About Us
AW Fraser manufactures and exports machined bronze and brass components to businesses in Australia, Asia, Europe and America. The company has a modern, well-equipped machine tool facility and laboratory at its manufacturing location in Christchurch, New Zealand.
AW Fraser was established in the 1930s and boasts an experienced and committed staff. The company was bought out by management in 2006 and is focused on getting the job done well and on time.
Our Team
Gordon Sutherland, CEO Gordon is a qualified Mechanical Engineer, and latterly completed business studies. He has 25 years experience in manufacturing industries in various engineering and management roles. He is also currently President of the NZ Manufacturing and Exporters Association.
Gordon has a very strong family focus, and enjoys outdoor pursuits including mountain biking, skiing and sailing.
Paul Isitt, CFO Paul has been involved in the manufacturing sector since qualifying from university. Outside of work he likes salmon fishing and spending time with his five children.
Matt Toohey, Commercial Manager Matt has worked his entire adult life in the marketing of industrial products and services. In his spare time, he likes freediving, plays underwater hockey and spends time with his young children.
Murray LeCompte, Customer Support Murray has been with AW Fraser since 1988 beginning with production and planning and then progressing to Customer Support Manager in 2000. Outside of work Murray is an avid sportsman, being involved with refereeing rugby, playing indoor netball and lawn bowls as well as road biking.
Jo Miller, Sales Executive Jo has been with AW Fraser since 1999, and part of the Sales Team since 2005. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, mountain biking and playing indoor netball. Jo is on maternity leave from September 25 2009.
Jeremy Roberts, Sales Executive Jeremy has worked for AW Fraser since 1998, firstly in the machine shop before joining the sales team in 2006. Jeremy enjoys playing the guitar and working on his lifestyle farm.
Geoff Mike, Sales Executive Geoff, who is based in Brisbane, has worked for the company in various capacities over the past 24 years. He is responsible for sales in Australia, SE Asia and the Middle East. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family, and has recently become an Officer in the Royal Australian Navy Reserves. He also enjoys hockey, cricket and supporting the Blues in State of Origin rugby league (even though he is based in Queensland).
Judith Genet, HR Administrator and Executive PA In her role, Judith spends her time assisting the Managers with a variety of issues, and with having a multi-cultural workforce, has adopted the role of 'mother' to our immigrant workers. Outside of work she is kept busy with her family and friends and is a keen follower of her son's sporting activities.
Jan Procter, Office Manager Jan has over 20 years experience in the Finance, Admin & Customer Service field – Outside the office Jan enjoys relaxing and exercising in the great outdoors by pursuing her passions for photographing and sketching nature's beauty, walking the dogs and playing golf.
Matt Dixon, Production Manager - Foundry, and Purchasing Manager Originally from the UK, Matt has an extensive background in the metal industry. Matt joined the company in 2004 as Purchasing Manager, and then also took on the additional role of Foundry Production Manager in 2005. Matt has a number of interests outside work, including motor bike racing and golf.
Craig Iggo, Foundry Production Controller Craig has been with the company for more than 15 years. Craig commenced in the Foundry, worked his way up to Shift Supervisor, and then in 2007 he was promoted to the position of Foundry Production Controller. Outside of work Craig enjoys hockey, 4 wheel driving, golf and outdoor activities with the family.
Toby Fraser, Production Manager - Extrusion Toby is the grandson of the founder of the company, Archibald William Fraser, who started the company in 1939. Toby has a NZ Certificate in Engineering. Toby enjoys skiing, sailing, fishing and diving.
Damien Gillman, Production Manager - Components Damien is in charge on the machined components side of the business. He has been involved with manufacturing for the last ten years and enjoys the challenge of producing a quality product at an affordable price. He is kept busy outside of work with his family and enjoying the various outdoor pursuits that New Zealand has to offer like skiing, hiking & golf.
Steve Moss, Machine Shop Technical Manager Steve has been working in manufacturing for over 30 years, originally from the UK he moved to AW Fraser in 1996 with his wife and 2 boys. Hobbies include Golf, Squash and Running.
Gary Gibb, Compliance and Development Manager Gary started in the business in 1975 and has an intimate knowledge of all aspects of the manufacturing and is an avid Crusaders (rugby) fan!
Robin Turland, Engineering Manager Robin is a qualified electrician, and has over 20 years experience in industiral electrical work. Having been with AW Fraser for more than 12 years, he has an indepth knowledge of the production processes and equipment. Robin enjoys spending time with his family, recreational hiking and water sports.
Chris Moffat, Store Manager Chris started with the company in 1991 and has worked his way up through the ranks to the position of Store Manager. In years prior to this he has managed a pub in England (at the age of 21), and is also a Trade Certified Butcher. Chris is a rugby league fanatic, and enjoys spending time with his lovely wife and four children.
Philip Benson, TOC Manager Philip is passionate about heavy manufacturing. He has an M.B.A. as well as 25 years of practical manufacturing experience. Philip is also keen on snow skiing and boating; both activities he can do with his family.
Chrissy Presland, Export Administrator Chrissy has been with AW Fraser since 1994. Beginning with Clerical and Production, moving into the Export Shipping and Sales Department since 2001. Outside of work she is kept busy with her 2 lovely boys.
