In centrifugal casting, molten bronze is poured from a furnace into a pilot ladle, which directs the stream of metal into a horizontal spinning die. The material rapidly cools on the wall of the rotating die. The inside diameter of the die determines the outside diameter of the casting and the quantity of the metal poured determines the wall thickness. After spinning, the casting is removed, proof-machined and inspected.

As with continuous casting, the centrifugal casting method produces an improved, close-grained and defect-free material. Centrifugal castings can be supplied machined to near net size.
